What the job actually involves.
Not every installation is the same amount of work. These are the four we do most, and the survey tells you which one you are looking at.
Swapping an existing combi for a new one in the same position. The quickest job we do, normally a single day, with the system cleansed and a filter added while the boiler is off the wall.
Removing the cylinder and loft tanks and running everything from one unit. Frees up a cupboard and often a loft, but it is two days of work and depends on your mains pressure being good enough to serve the property.
The right answer for larger homes running two or more bathrooms at once. Mains-pressure hot water from a sealed cylinder, with no drop in flow when a second shower starts. Requires an engineer qualified in unvented systems, which we are.
Still common in South London's older housing. The unit comes out of the fireplace, the chimney is dealt with correctly and a modern boiler goes in elsewhere, usually the kitchen or a utility. More disruptive than a straight swap, and worth planning around decorating.

It depends on the type, the brand and how much the installation involves — a straight combi swap and a back boiler removal are very different jobs. The survey is free and gives you one fixed figure covering everything, so you can compare quotes properly.
How long will I be without heating?
A straight swap is usually a single day, with hot water back the same evening. Conversions and cylinder work take two days. We tell you which at the survey rather than on the morning.
Which boiler should I choose?
Hot water demand decides it. One bathroom is normally a combi; two or more running at once usually needs a system boiler and an unvented cylinder. Mains pressure is tested before we recommend anything, because a combi on poor pressure disappoints every time.
Do you handle the warranty and paperwork?
Yes. We complete the Benchmark record, notify Building Control and register the manufacturer warranty in your name. You get the certificate without chasing anyone.
Do I need to keep it serviced?
Yes, annually, and it is a condition of almost every manufacturer warranty. An unserviced boiler with a ten-year warranty is effectively a boiler with no warranty.
Can you install in a flat or a leasehold property?
Regularly. The flue route and the freeholder's requirements are checked at the survey, before anything is ordered, so install day does not stop halfway through.
